Jia-Ling and I went for a walk down Iloo Road a couple of days ago and came across a couple of old people who could have been time travellers from centuries ago. Jia-Ling stopped to take a photo, politely asking for permission (I’m usually rather more furtive) so I elbowed in a took a couple of shots myself. We also found a stone relief of Hanuman the monkey god that I’d never noticed before. It felt good to be in ‘India’—sometimes all I see is a computer screen, and frankly, at such times I could be anywhere. But for anyone thinking of coming in January, bring thermal underwear and thick socks and ‘wet ones’ because it’s absolutely freezing.
I’ve decided I miss you
Hmmn, interesting decision. I’m in a different world over here, so if you were here I’d spend my time worrying about whether you were coping or not… But we’ll see each other next year…
Dear Janine,
I have just discovered this great blog. So many subtle points brilliantly made. I haven’t read it all yet, but it already brought back many memories of HH Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, including the ‘kitchen scene’ which I remember well. The blog is also a great reminder of what an incomparable teacher Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche is.
Lots of Love
John
Hi John, thanks so much for taking the time to look at this stuff. I write it for fun and to try to haul back at least a few of the memories that are slipping away at a rate of knots… And you’re absolutely right, Khyentse Rinpoche is incomparable in so many ways! Merry Christmas! love Janine
